Confident Minds, Strong Voices

Debate Sessions That Build Leaders

Wamec College integrates dynamic debate sessions into student life, designed to sharpen communication and decision-making skills. In our purpose-built debate classrooms, students are divided into two groups, taking opposing sides on relevant topics. These sessions offer a powerful platform to articulate ideas clearly, listen actively, and engage in constructive argumentation — key skills for any business leader.

Led by a dedicated Debate Master, each session covers practical, real-world scenarios students may face in the business world. Topics range from managing crises and navigating ethical dilemmas to mastering the art of staying calm under pressure. The debates also encourage a deeper understanding of emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and diplomacy — vital traits in today’s competitive global marketplace.

These sessions are held once or twice a week and are spread across the academic year to complement classroom learning. While not part of the core curriculum, they play an essential role in developing well-rounded, articulate professionals. Wamec believes that confident speakers make stronger leaders — and these debates are a key step toward that goal.

Business Committee Engagement

College guidance to align student
vision with practical business goals

The Mentor’s Role in Business Alignment

Appointed full-time by the college, the mentor serves as a personal guide for each student during the crucial early stages of their academic journey. The mentor’s responsibility includes understanding the student’s mindset, family background, and career aspirations — especially in relation to choosing the right business path. This includes one-on-one interactions with both the student and their parents.

Throughout the first year and into part of the second year, the mentor observes, advises, and reports their findings to the Business Committee. Acting as a bridge, the mentor ensures that business decisions are well-informed, aligning personal potential with practical opportunity.

Their influence helps lay a solid foundation, ensuring the student’s direction is thoughtful, family-supported, and future-focused.

Business Committee – Guiding Entrepreneurial Pathways

The Business Committee plays a central role in finalizing the student’s entrepreneurial journey. Drawing insights from the mentor’s reports and direct interactions with the student and their family, the committee works to identify a suitable business venture that fits both ambition and capability.

This process includes multiple structured meetings involving the student, parents, and committee members — held both at the college and at the student’s home. These discussions help clarify expectations and explore joint or individual business ownership opportunities, ensuring transparency and alignment.

Through these collaborative efforts, the Business Committee ensures each student moves forward with clarity, confidence, and the right support system.

Research Committee – Supporting Technical Feasibility

The Research Committee is engaged when specialized knowledge or complex production methods are required to execute the chosen business idea. Upon request by the Business Committee, this team begins its work by investigating processes, technologies, and methodologies needed to bring the idea to life.

When in-house expertise is not sufficient, the committee reaches out to global research centers and institutions to gather the necessary data or solutions. This ensures that no idea is held back due to technical uncertainty.

Their role is critical in converting an abstract vision into a tangible, workable model — backed by facts, innovation, and global insight.

Implementation Committee – From Vision to Reality

Once a business plan is finalized by the student, parents, and committees, the Implementation Committee steps in to bring the vision to life. This committee acts as a business development consultant, guiding students through the legal and administrative steps of registering and launching the venture.

They assist with documentation, compliance, and operational planning, ensuring each phase aligns with professional standards. Their involvement spans from initial setup to trial runs of the business model.

Active during the third and fourth years of the student’s academic journey — and extending into a fifth year post-graduation, if needed — this committee plays a hands-on role in turning ideas into real enterprises.
